reason的用法有哪些?

reason 的用法應(yīng)注意以下幾點：

1. 表示理由或原因，多用作可數(shù)名詞，有時也用作不可數(shù)名詞，其后常接介詞for-短語或不定式短語：

Give me your reason (s) fordoing it. 說說你做這件事的理由吧。

I have many reasons tofear him. 我怕他是有很多理由的。

There is (some) reason tosuspect him. 懷疑他是有 (些)理由的。

The reason for the floodwas all that heavy rain. 漲洪水的原因完全是那場大雨。

2. 后接定語從句，用why (=for which)引導(dǎo)，有時也可用that, 在非正式英語中甚至可以省略：

The reason that [why] he died waslack of medical care. 他死的原因是缺少醫(yī)療。

The reason I didn’t tell you was that I wanted it to be a surprise. 我之所以沒有告訴你是想讓它給你個驚奇。

注意the reason之后所接的why引導(dǎo)的定語從句，必須是限制性的，而不能是非限制性的。

3. 注意以下幾句，第一句比第二句更普通：

告訴我你為什么遲到了。

正：Tell me why you are late.

正：Tell me the reason why you are late.

那就是他被解雇的原因。

正：That’s why he was dismissed.

正：That’s the reason why he was dismissed.

4. 在 The reason why…is that…這類句型中，通常要用 that來引導(dǎo)表語從句，但在現(xiàn)代英語中用 because的情況已比較普遍：

Thereason (why) he did not come was that [because] he was ill. 他沒有來是因為他生病了。

但在應(yīng)試中，若要從that / because中作出選擇，當(dāng)然以選that為宜。

the reason why語法

(一)the reason why...是一個典型的定語從句句式，后面的why引導(dǎo)一個從句，而在定語從句中，除了先行詞是that，which，who等可以做從句主語或者賓語的詞之外，如果先行詞是where，when，why及其同義詞(比如in which，on which，for which等)的話，你會發(fā)現(xiàn)后面的從句也是同樣可以單獨成句的。這里的why也是如此。

就拿回答區(qū)里面的朋友的句子為例：

例句：The reason whyhe was lateis that he didn't catch the early bus.

這里的從句是he was late，這就是一個可以單獨成句的句子。

(二)再來說一下the reason that...這里面先行詞就屬于前面所說的先行詞充當(dāng)主語或者賓語等名詞成分的情況了，這樣的句子如果把從句拿出來就不能單獨成句。

例句：The reason thathe gaveis lame.

這里的從句是he gave，顯然這是不能單獨成句的，因為give是一個及物動詞，需要加賓語，而這里面的賓語應(yīng)該是that指代的reason。
